I posted a drabble at the 100, today.

I know I'm trying to separate fannish pursuits and personal schtuff, but I thought I'd stick the link up here, just in case anyone remembers me and would like to read. ;)

Dear Jane

Don't forget [god what a pimp, i am!] my flocked journal is [info]moonweb. Come and see us, won't you?

He loved her more than he ever thought he was capable of. She made him happy, not simply content. She'd bore him a son; a beautiful boy who favored her but took after him in attitude and personality. She smiled often, giving him the confidence to succeed, to please her. Yes, she was his beloved.

He hated her for being weak. If she'd only been stronger the illness would not have claimed her. She was leaving him, inch by inch. He despised her selfishness; he had no idea how to care for a child by himself. Her appearance was more than he could bear, the illness had changed her body, her face, changed her. All he needed was her simple smiles to lessen his business woes and worries, yet soon he would never see her smile again. He hated what she was doing to him by dying. Yes, she was his beloved but he could no longer stand the sight of her.

I found a lovely book by Ann Hood entitled, Creating Character Emotions.

Each chapter deals with a specific emotion and provides bad and good examples of each in fiction. Finally at the end of the chapter there are writing exercises.

I thought it would be fun to challenge ourselves by practicing one of these exercises once a week.

[info]babydraco has generously offered the use of her community [info]of_musings for the weekly explanation and challenge.

Any interested participants should post their entries in their own journal and link in the appropriate comments section at the community.

This week's challenge, Hate, can be found here.

I hope everyone tries this at least once. It has been quite a learning experience for me.

I don't do this very often, as a matter of fact I almost never post reviews or spoilers of any of the Smallville episodes.

First and foremost, I must thank [info]ceruleancat for introducing me to suprnova.org and search engines. I was able to dl Talisman in less than 8 hours. I slept through the airing of the ep Wednesday night and despaired of seeing it until late summer reruns.

So...any way...here is my beef. I'll place it behind cut tags, even though it's not very spoilery. Warning: Technical jargon and very uninteresting content for many.

To all those who offered hugs and sympathy, thanks to each and every one.

For those who offered advice on management skills, thanks to you too.

For the rest of you who don't give a damn, this is my day off. Wheee!

Last night, my twin [info]schaden_freude had opportunity to bring a family member into the Emergency Trauma Center.

When they arrived at the triage desk, everyone saw her and assumed it was me. My co-workers started to crack wise, asking if said family member required a psychiatric consult, and other 'silly' things.

After Schade and company were thoroughly offended, someone realized it wasn't me they were talking to. Many apologies immediately ensued.

Other co-workers would approach me with puzzled expressions, stating, "There is a woman in Acute Care who looks exactly like *you*!"

SO, is it just me, or do twins cause a stir whenever they are seen in the same vacinity?

Peace out.

Today was really tiring.

I got out of bed very early to run errands

I feel detached and sort of disconnected from my body

I'm so tired of listening to my family scream

Last night I had to finish my term paper on the history of pre-communist Russian society. I focused on fashion design. I think it's all right, but if I don't pass this I'll lose my scholarship.

I want to tell the world that my life is a living hell

I am slowly losing my mind

Today, I got a digital camera! Yes! I will take pictures in the graveyard tonight.

I want to say thanks to my grief counselor

I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I have bipolar disorder, and should stop taking drugs.

You should all do this quiz! It's amazingly accurate. You just put in your name and birthday, and it will tell you whether you're bipolar or not.

Life is hard enough. By using this update generator, I don't have to think.

That's enough for now. But I'll leave you with this thought - sharing your life with strangers on the internet is the cheapest form of therapy available. Leave a comment and tell me I'm not bipolar.

First and foremost, this is Wednesday. So the [info]wednesday100 challenge consists of making a Smallville citizen(s) act totally out of character.

My humble submission:

Major upset at the workplace, and I am talking major. Our department director, who has nearly 40 years in with the company, 20 of which he's served as administrative director has been 'transferred'.

Two vice-presidents came to the department late afternoon on Monday, calling an emergency mandatory meeting of all supervisors.

They made the announcement that E. was leaving to take on a 'delicate and involved' project within another facility, and our assistant director, A., would be acting director for the time being.

This is good for me, [what?...i'm not the center of the universe?] in many ways. A. was in fact the person who placed me in a supervisory position and pushed for management classes.

Several of E's pet employees have now dropped out of their starring roles.

A has already submitted budget requests for several FTEs [full time employees].

The best part of this whole upset? A is a Gyne-American to quote the slur commonly used around our facility. I know of only one other female department head in the entire building. We employee nearly 6000 people in the facility. You do the math.

--

Without naming names, we performed examinations on one of the key terrorists who were convicted of plotting to blow up the World Trade Center in 1993.

The federal guards were dressed in street clothing, carrying weapons in duffel bags. They arrived at 4.00am and a male specialty technologist was required to come in from home to perform one particular examination, because this person's religious beliefs do not allow any female, who is not his wife, to touch him.

That is all. Please return to your regular duties. Had this been a real emergency, I would have included instructions on reaching safety in an adult and orderly manner.

For those in the MIRC chat, earlier tonight - - there was a good reason for my sudden disappearance.

Raised voices, angry shouts, screeching tires and finally a gunshot. This just down the block from our home. This is a quiet old residential neighborhood, people. These are not frequent or even common occurrences 'round here.

The eldest Katzen kinder felt the need to stand on our porch, gawking like . . . a gawking thing. We kept dragging him back inside. Police were swarming the block, questioning everyone they encountered.

Apparently someone fired at the racing vehicle. The bullet ricocheted and struck a neighborhood woman in the leg. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

*shakes head and sighs* I want my peaceful life back. I don't need to worry about the kinder leaving the house, *me* leaving the house.

Just finished watching a corny western on HBO, cleverly titled El Diablo.

The plot summary reads:

When the notorious outlaw El Diablo kidnaps a schoolgirl, her teacher, an Easterner named Billy Ray, decides to rescue her. Incompetent to track her alone, Billy Ray enlists the aid of an unscrupulous gunman.

My only reason for viewing? John Glover portrayed The Preacher. The MB's comedy timing is exquisite. He stole every scene just as he does on our beloved Smallville. His penchant for long black frock coats and collarless shirts doesn't hurt either. Not to mention my delight at hearing John's fine Irish tenor belting out the old time church hymns I learned so many years ago. Actually sang along on Shall We Gather At the River.

The movie was predictable and cliched, but we all sacrifice for our tv boyfriends, right?

Anyone know the origin of this quote? I know I could look it up, but that would take effort and I'm being lazy.

In the land of the blind, the man with one eye is king.

I've heard this like three times in the last two days, and it's driving me nuts . . . the random coincidence as well as the speaker/author.

---

At the Salt Mines, we had a very 'interesting' case, last night. The pagers toned a trauma activation: young male, stab wound to the chest, conscious and alert.

When the ambulance arrived with a very intoxicated patient, the emergency room physician started asking questions, assessing his state of mind and seriousness of the injury.

Our patient claimed that he'd been drinking all day. He went to the kitchen to make a sandwich. Had a carving knife in his hand, prepared to cut a slice of ham when he passed out and fell on the knife.

Now, if one loses consciousness, all motor functions are also lost . . . meaning that the knife should fall from his relaxed fingers, probably to land on the counter-top, rather than remaining upright in a rigid fist, for one to impale oneself upon.

I just spent the last half hour outside in the falling snow, with the plumber, who was snaking out our drains. Boy, it's good to work inside, let me tell ya.

The Katzen Clan actually ventured out into what is commonly known as the 'real world', Sunday evening.

[info]schaden_freude and I attended a concert by The Chieftans, at the Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

A good time was had by all, and much merriment ensued.

Schade's and my personal fave was a small girl, in traditional Irish dress, we 'affectionately' dubbed RiverDance Barbie. Her multi-hued outfit and bouncing mane of blonde curls, quite astounding to behold.

Then, there were the Polanski brothers, from Ottawa. One danced exclusively while the other played fiddle and danced in a crimson satin shirt and blue jeans. The boys' dazzling footwork was amazing.

Of course, the star of the show was Paddy Maloney, founder of the group and last surviving member, since Derrick Bell, harpist, passed late in 2002.

I think the World might be an interesting place, if experienced more often...
